What is COSIDI?

COSIDI stand for Client Oriented Scale of Improvement for Dizziness and Imbalance, and it is based on validated client-oriented scales for hearing aids (COSI) and for tinnitus (COSIT), and on wider evidence for the benefit of involving patients in specifying the goals for rehabilitation.

COSIDI was developed with patient and clinician feedback, and has been tested and validated in three clinical settings in Cardiff, Swansea, and Southampton. The validation is published here:

Sumner, P., Mora, S., Derry, H., Withey, H., Rajenderkumar, D. and Powell, G. 2025.ย Validating the client oriented scale of improvement for dizziness and imbalance (COSIDI).ย International Journal of Audiologyย (10.1080/14992027.2025.2590151)

COSIDI scores correlate well with theย Dizziness Handicap Inventory (DHI) andย Vestibular Rehabilitation Benefit Questionnaireย (VRBQ), showing it is aย valid tool for assessing vestibular rehabilitation.
